Abstract
The paper investigates challenges in translating phraseological units in English and Uzbek fictional texts. The article categorizes translation methods and equivalence types into full equivalence, partial equivalence, functional substitution, paraphrasing, and compensation. By analyzing examples from the two languages, it has been found out that successful translation of phraseological units requires translators to achieve three main goals which include maintaining semantic accuracy and preserving stylistic elements and transferring cultural elements. The findings of the article contribute to further phraseological research in English-Uzbek literary translation
