Abstract

This article examines translational challenges in English-Uzbek football commentary and sports discourse. It analyzes linguistic, cultural, and pragmatic difficulties in live match translation, including metaphorical expressions, tactical terminology, and discourse constraints. Based on corpus data and bilingual lexicographic materials, the study identifies common translation strategies such as paraphrasing and functional adaptation. The research highlights the importance of terminology standardization, translator competence, and discourse awareness for effective communication. The findings show that successful football translation requires balancing accuracy, emotional impact, and audience comprehension in broadcasting contexts.
