Abstract
This article analyzes the differences between the epics of Alisher Navoi and popular epic texts called folk books in terms of the nature of the genre, compositional structure, and artistic and stylistic layers. Navoi's epics are distinguished by their authorial poetics, aruz system, symbolic and philosophical content, extensive intertextuality, and complex artistic techniques. Folk books, on the other hand, are seen as a textual category formed in the area where oral and written traditions meet, adapted to the needs of copying, processing, bakhshiy performance, and mass reading.
