Abstract
This article discusses the traditional and modern interpretations of lexical synonyms in recent years in Uzbek linguistics, and argues for defining modern synonymy based on the seme analysis of the componential structure of their lexical meanings. It also analyzes the importance of modern synonyms in linguistics, their structure and seme composition, as well as their relationship with the phenomenon of gradonymy.
