Abstract
This article examines the concept of communication as a fundamental category in psychology and pedagogy. The essence, structure, functions, and types of communication are analyzed in the context of interpersonal interaction and social activity. Special attention is given to the role of communication in personality development, cognitive and emotional processes, as well as in the educational process. Verbal and non-verbal means of communication and their significance in modern society are also discussed. The article emphasizes that communication serves not only as a means of information exchange but also as a crucial mechanism for socialization and organization of joint activities.
