METHODOLOGY FOR DEVELOPING LANGUAGE AWARENESS IN FOREIGN EDUCATION SYSTEMS
Abstract
This article examines methodologies for developing language awareness in foreign education systems, highlighting its role in fostering linguistic, cognitive, and intercultural competence. Language awareness involves conscious engagement with language, enabling learners to analyze structures, reflect on usage, and navigate multilingual contexts. Grounded in linguistics, psycholinguistics, and sociocultural theory, effective methodologies include task-based learning, comparative language analysis, reflective practices, and the use of authentic materials. Teacher education, particularly within PRESETT programs, is essential for equipping educators with the skills to implement these approaches. The article also addresses challenges such as traditional teaching methods, institutional constraints, and limited resources, offering recommendations for systemic support and innovation. Overall, a learner-centered, interactive, and research-informed approach is advocated to enhance language awareness and prepare learners for the demands of a globalized world.
