Abstract
The article presents an analysis of the transformation of medieval legal thought on “mythical violence” into a new interpretation of law-establishing violence — into the idea of “divine violence.” The problem was introduced into the field of political theology by the German philosopher and cultural theorist Walter Benjamin in the 1920s.
