Abstract
The diagnostic efficacy of ultrasound (US) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in detecting soft tissue injuries of the knee joint was comparatively evaluated. The study included 112 patients with acute and chronic knee trauma. The results indicated that MRI remains the absolute "gold standard" for assessing deep intra-articular structures (menisci, cruciate ligaments). However, US demonstrated diagnostic accuracy equivalent to MRI in the evaluation of superficial collateral ligaments and during dynamic assessment. A diagnostic algorithm based on utilizing US for primary screening and MRI for complex cases optimizes healthcare resources.
