Abstract
This article describes the theoretical foundations of the science of human genetics, its role in medicine, and the scientific and practical significance of the cytogenetic method. Hereditary signs in humans, causes of genetic diseases and methods of cytogenetic analysis used in their detection are consistently described. Chromosome abnormalities and their clinical implications are explained based on examples.
