ON 246 and the Stochastic Self-Organized Criticality in C3 ISP Blazars: A Weekly Light Curve Analysis

ABI

Abstract

Weekly-cadence Fermi-LAT light curve analysis of the C3 ISP blazar subpopulation identified in Katayama (2026a, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.19776343). We identify two temporally distinct variability archetypes: SOC-type (burst/dormant, ON 246: max/min=72.6x, skewness=3.57, ACF significant at lags 1-10 weeks) and continuous-type (sustained oscillation, S5 0716+71: near-Gaussian distribution). The 'clogged turbine vs. running engine' dichotomy suggests physically distinct jet internal states coexisting within the ISP transition zone. C3 is not one thing — within the anomalous, it is heterogeneous.
