Abstract

The article analyzes the semantic and functional features of color-denoting components in the toponymic system of the Uzbek language. It scientifically elucidates that color lexemes such as oq (white), qora (black), ko‘k (blue), qizil (red), and sariq (yellow) in the structure of toponyms express not only color meaning, but also historical-ethnic, geographical, and linguocultural content. It also identifies their place and nominative possibilities in the structure of hydronyms, oronyms, oikonyms, and ethnotoponyms.
