Abstract

The mathematical model allows for the evaluation of the performance efficiency of the water filter, taking into account changes in concentration, porosity, pressure values and the fouling process. To select the appropriate problem-solving strategy, scientific research conducted over the past 10–15 years on the mathematical modelling of this process was analysed. A mathematical model and a numerical algorithm describing a system of partial differential equations and their corresponding initial and boundary conditions have been developed to solve the problem. Using the proposed mathematical model and taking into account a number of factors, it is possible to predict the concentration variation in a cylindrical porous medium over the required time interval.
