Abstract

Resume. Changes in TNF-α and HGF levels were identified in HAV infection, demonstrating a relationship between inflammatory and regenerative processes. An increase in TNF-α levels confirms its role as a mediator of inflammation, while elevated HGF levels reflect the response to hepatocyte damage and promote liver regeneration by enhancing hepatocyte proliferation. Higher HGF levels were associated with greater liver injury and an increased need for active regeneration. Keywords: viral hepatitis, immune system, liver, cachexin, growth factor, cytokines, imbalance.
