Abstract

The article presents an expanded bibliographic analysis of studies devoted to the reformist movement in Turkestan at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. It examines the scholarly works of both domestic and foreign researchers, their methodological approaches, ideological influences, and the main problems in interpreting this historical phenomenon. The author critically evaluates the established practice of dividing reformers into “Jadids” and “Qadimists,” pointing out its conditional and one-sided nature. The need for a comprehensive study of the reformist movement is emphasized, taking into account its religious, social, and political aspects. Based on the analysis of sources, the article proposes directions for further improvement of research in this field.
