Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in women of reproductive age is a widespread condition that significantly affects overall health, work capacity, and reproductive function. The aim of this study was to comparatively investigate the main hematological parameters in healthy women of reproductive age and women with iron deficiency anemia. The study involved 120 women aged 18–45 years, of whom 60 comprised the control (healthy) group and 60 the main (IDA) group. The results showed that in the main group, hemoglobin levels, erythrocyte count, MCV, MCH, MCHC, and serum iron were significantly lower (p<0.001), ferritin levels were markedly decreased, while total iron-binding capacity was increased. The findings confirm the importance of comprehensive hematological examination for the early diagnosis of IDA.
