Abstract

This article examines the effect of high-quality soil cultivation (deep plowing) on the photosynthetic activity of Uzbekistan’s valuable medicinal plant – stinking ferula (Ferula foetida L.), based on three-year field experiments. The research aimed to identify opportunities for optimizing the growth and development of ferula in cultivated plantations. Observations conducted in the upland region of Nurobod district proved that on deeply plowed plots, the plant's photosynthetic potential (PP), leaf area index (LAI), and net photosynthetic productivity (NPP) were significantly higher (1.5–2.5 times) compared to the control (unplowed) variant. The highest photosynthetic activity was recorded in the third year of the plant’s vegetative development. In conclusion, deep soil cultivation is a key agrotechnical measure that activates the photosynthetic activity of stinking ferula and enables an increase in its biomass and valuable resin yield.
