Abstract
This article systematically investigates the linguopoetic features of terms based on Uzbek language materials, employing classical terminology theory, modern linguopoetics, and cognitive linguistics. Five key linguopoetic functions of terms in literary texts (nominative-descriptive, expressive-emotional, metaphorical, symbolic, ironic-satirical) are theoretically substantiated and evidenced with specific literary extracts from Uzbek literature. Classified linguopoetic models of terms by field (astronomy, biology, physics-chemistry, medicine, informatics) are presented. Cognitive mechanisms of terminological metaphor are revealed through Lakoff and Johnson's conceptual metaphor theory.
