Abstract

Rare fission channels of ²⁵²Cf were investigated with the aim of studying the decay properties of short-lived light nuclei formed during multi-particle emission. Particular attention was given to unstable fragments such as ⁸Be and excited states of ⁷Li, which decay almost instantaneously into lighter charged particles. Using a ΔE–E telescope system with high spatial sensitivity, energy spectra and angular correlations of emitted light charged particle pairs were measured. The analysis focuses on identifying signatures of intermediate fragment decay through their characteristic kinematic distributions. The observed angular correlations for α–α and α–t pairs were compared with trajectory-based calculations for different decay channels.
