Abstract

This chapter explores the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in shaping autonomous delivery systems, including drones, robots, and self-driving vehicles. It highlights the integration of core AI technologies such as machine learning, sensor fusion, and path planning in enabling last-mile logistics automation. Real-world case studies from Amazon, Starship, and Zipline demonstrate operational success across retail, healthcare, and food delivery sectors. The chapter also discusses implementation strategies, environmental impact, user experience, and barriers like regulatory, technical, and ethical challenges. Future trends such as 5G, blockchain, digital twins, and swarm intelligence are examined to outline the roadmap for scalable, sustainable, and intelligent delivery systems.
