Human Mentorship in AI-Supported Training and Apprenticeship Systems
Abstract
The use of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the training and apprenticeship systems is becoming more common, changing the definitions of learning, competence, and performance. AI-driven solutions extend customization, effectiveness, and capacity, yet at the cost of lessening learning to quantifiable products. In this chapter, the human approach is taken where learning is seen as a becoming and not as an act of doing. Based on the learning theory, human-AI interaction, and exemplary cases, it demonstrates that human mentorship supplements intelligent systems by making sense of algorithmic feedback, enhancing ethical judgement, and developing professional identity. The chapter further builds a human-AI complement framework in order to promote significant learning and lifelong professional evolution.
