Agricultural Advances in Pesticide Adhesion and Targeted Nutrient Delivery Using Biological Surface Agents
Abstract
In the current agricultural context, there is a need for efficient strategies to improve the use of pesticides and nutrients, while minimizing environmental losses and enhancing crop productivity. Biological surface agents, such as proteins, peptides, polysaccharides, microbial-derived biomolecules, and other naturally occurring surface-active compounds, have emerged as promising tools for enhancing the adhesion, spreading, retention, and controlled delivery of agricultural inputs. This chapter examines recent advances in the application of biological surface agents for improved pesticide adhesion, specifically focusing on hydrophobin-mediated pesticide adhesion and targeted nutrient delivery, which are emerging applications in sustainable agriculture.
