Abstract
<title>Abstract</title> This book aims to provide an illustrative companion to CABI's Dictionary of the fungi and reflect recent changes in classification, to provide further information on the 536 currently accepted families of fungi, and to depict the great range of morphological structures found among the fungi, so helping to stimulate interest in the subject. The families are listed in alphabetical order and for each there is a brief description of morphology, one or more photographs (where available), a list of significant genera, notes on the geographical distribution, economic significance and ecology, general notes, and a list of references. The book also contains a 54-page glossary and a list that includes common synonyms as well as accepted families.
