Abstract
We summarize the recent accumulation of data on electromagnetic transitions between states belonging to the lowest positive and negative parity bands of nuclei in the actinide region, and show that, in the case of $E2$ and $E3$ transitions, the simple patterns exhibited by these data are well reproduced by a binary cluster model.
