Abstract

Corrosion of N80 steelin 3.5% NaCl solution containingcarbondioxidewasinvestigatedwith and withoutPorphyrinderivativesusingelectrochemical, and gravimetric tests. Surface morphologywasexaminedusing contact angle, and scanning electronmicroscopy (SEM) techniques. The inhibition efficiencyof Porphyrinderivatives tend to increasewith concentration but decreasewithincrease in temperature. The surface studiesshowed the ruptering of the inhibitor film as the temperatureincreases. Among all the inhibitorsused P5 wasfound to show the best inhibition efficiency due to itswide structure and presence of heteroatomsattached to the rings.
