Abstract
<title>Abstract</title> This multiauthor book contains 19 sections discussing the evolution and taxonomy, genetic diversity, domestication, genetic transformation, breeding, agronomy, pre- and postharvest treatments, storage, diseases, pests, onion cultivation in the tropics (including country reports), sulfur compounds and flavour, and ornamental and medicinal uses of <italic>Allium</italic> spp., particularly garlic, onions, leeks and shallots. It will be of value to those interested in the biological aspects of alliums, including scientists and field experts.
