Stars in reflection nebulae

Abstract

Photometric and spectroscopic observations are reported for stars located in reflection nebulae. The slope of the reddening line in the colorcolor diagram is found to be normal for these stars and steeper for the later-type than for the early-type stars. The data are used to determine the distances and spatial distribution of these objects. The observations outline 15 distinct associations of reflection nebulae. A well-defined lane of R associations extends from Cygnus to Monoceros along the inner edge of the Orion arm.
