Abstract
Abstract A method for direct measurement of the Verdet constant of a biaxial crystal cut along one of the optical axes was proposed and tested on a TbF 3 crystal. The dispersion of the refractive indices of the TbF 3 crystal was measured and analyzed in two ways—using a refractometer and the method of waveguide mode excitation. The dispersion of the position of the optical axis was calculated based on the experimental results, as well as using the refractive index data published earlier.
