Abstract

Abstract A new technic to demonstrate dissecting popliteal cysts of the knee is described utilizing 10 to 50 μCi (average 40) of 131 I HSA intra‐articularly. In thirty‐seven scans of 26 patients, nine instances of dissecting cysts were noted. These occurred most often in rheumatoid arthritis. The importance of clinical differentiation from thrombophlebitis is emphasized. The demonstration of dissecting popliteal cysts utilizing tracer doses of 131 I HSA has been found to be simple, safe and useful.
