Abstract

Excitation functions for fission following fusion of $^{32}\mathrm{S}$ and $^{144,154}\mathrm{Sm}$ exhibit a strong dependence on the deformation of the target nucleus, although the fission decay selects large ($l\ensuremath{\ge}37\ensuremath{\hbar}$) angular momenta.
