The Structure of Star Clusters. V. Star Counts in 54 Globular Clusters

Abstract

This paper presents the results of star counting in all globular clusters in which a structural study seemed feasible, excepting only a few at extreme southern declinations. The data in each cluster are collected in concentric rings and are presented both numerically and graphically. Special attention is given to correction for background densities, and a study is also made of crowding effects. The results are in agreement with previous conclusions that the density profile of a cluster can be characterixed by a number factor, a core radius, and a limiting radius.
