Relaxation Times for the Volume Viscosity of Simple Fluids

Abstract

Effective relaxation times for the volume viscosity of a corresponding-states fluid in the dense-gas region are calculated using low-frequency volume viscosity data and previously developed estimates of high-frequency elastic moduli. The times are found to be on the order of 10−13 sec.
