Abstract
The phonon density of states of tantalum is obtained from electron tunneling measurements. The data, analyzed using techniques based on the electron-phonon theory of superconductivity, demonstrate that no alternative electron-electron coupling mechanism is needed to understand the superconductivity of this transition metal.
