Abstract

Abstract Results are presented of experimental studies of magnetoresistance of oriented Bi single crystals in pulsed transverse and longitudinal magnetic fields up to 90 and 160 kOe, respectively, at 4.2, 20.4, and 77 °K. The changes of the magnetic field dependence of the resistance observed previously [5] i.e. the tendency towards saturation, are studied in detail. Magnetoresistance anomalies are shown to appear in transverse and longitudinal magnetic fields at similar field strengths. An attempt is made to relate the results to the occurrence of open paths in high magnetic fields.
