Abstract

It is shown that a controller’s tuning can be optimized for the criterion of minimizing the root-mean square control error without knowing the correlation function of input signals if it is required that the error be considerably smaller than it is without control. Otherwise, virtually unrealistic durations of input signals may be required for the correlation function to be evaluated with necessary accuracy.
