Abstract

X-ray measurements of lattice parameters of deuteromethane are carried out in the range 5 to 89.5 K. The density, molar volumes, and thermal expansion coefficients are found, as well as magnitudes of volume changes at phase transitions and melting. The constant-volume heat capacity, Grüneisen constants, adiabatic and isothermal compressibilities are calculated. Comparing the X-ray and the extrapolated dilatometric thermal expansion coefficients, the density, volume, and formation enthalpy of thermal equilibrium vacancies are estimated. The values obtained are compared with those observed in methane and solid noble gases. [Russian Text Ignored].
