Chamber Studies of Secondary Aerosol Formation from Light Duty Vehicle Exhausts

ABI

Abstract

Formation of secondary organic aerosol (SOA) from combustion processes is a subject that is not well understood, because it involves a large number of complicated physical and chemical processes such as the oxidation and gas to particle transformation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) (Hallquist et al., 2009). Photo oxidation of light aromatic VOCs such as Benzene, Toluene and Xylene (BTX) contributes to SOA formation in the atmosphere (Ng et al., 2007).
