Phonon Frequencies and Superconductivity in Very Thin Films

Abstract

Moments of the phonon frequency distribution have been calculated for very thin crystalline films and used to estimate electron-phonon coupling constants and superconducting transition temperatures. The results are found to depend strongly on the crystallographic orientation of the film.
