Abstract

The development of speaking skills in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) remains a central challenge in language education. TaskBased Language Teaching (TBLT) offers a communicative, learnercentred methodology that emphasizes reallife language use through authentic tasks. This article investigates the effectiveness of TBLT in developing speaking skills among EFL learners by reviewing empirical evidence and contemporary research. It highlights how taskbased instruction enhances fluency, confidence, interactional competence, and learner motivation compared to traditional, formfocused approaches. The findings suggest that TBLT can significantly improve oral proficiency when tasks are well designed, contextually relevant, and supported by appropriate pedagogy.
