Abstract

Khaled Hosseini’s A Thousand Splendid Suns depicts the lives of women in Afghanistan. Through characters like Mariam and Laila, it shows how women survive with resilience, love, and hope. The novel presents how war, patriarchy, and social hardship shape human destinies. At the same time, it demonstrates that compassion and sacrifice allow the human spirit to endure. Readers learn lessons about courage, patience, and friendship through Mariam and Laila’s experiences.
