Abstract

ThedevelopmentofreadingcompetenceattheB1levelisakeyobjectiveofforeignlanguageeducation,aslearnersarerequiredtocomprehendauthentictextsandapplyeffectivereadingstrategies.Traditionalteachingapproachesoftenfailtoensuresufficientlearnerengagementandautonomy,whichincreasestherelevanceofinnovativepedagogicaltechnologies.TheaimofthisstudyistoinvestigatethepracticaleffectivenessofmodernandinnovativepedagogicaltechnologiesinteachingreadingtoB1-levellearners.Theresearchemployedaquasi-experimentalmixed-methodsdesigninvolvinganexperimentalandacontrolgroup.Task-basedlearning,flippedclassroommethodology,anddigitalreadingtoolswereappliedduringaneight-weekinstructionalperiod.Datawerecollectedthroughpre-testandpost-testassessmentsalignedwithCEFRB1descriptorsandanalyzedusingapaired-samplet-testandCohen’sdeffectsize.Thefindingsrevealedastatisticallysignificantimprovementintheexperimentalgroup’sreadingperformance(t(23)=6.42,p<0.001),withalargeeffectsize(Cohen’sd=0.87).Learnersdemonstratedimprovedreadingcomprehension,strategicawareness,andhigherengagement.ThestudyconfirmsthatmodernandinnovativepedagogicaltechnologiessignificantlyenhancereadinginstructionattheB1levelandcanbeeffectivelyintegratedintohighereducationlanguagecurricula
