ENHANCING LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: INTEGRATED STRATEGIES FOR OVERCOMING COMMON BARRIERS IN EFL EDUCATION
Abstract
In the context of globalization, English has become a dominant language in education, science, and international communication. As a result, the number of students learning English as a second or foreign language continues to increase worldwide. However, English Language Students (ELS) encounter numerous linguistic, cognitive, and psychological challenges during the language acquisition process. This article examines the major difficulties faced by ELS students, including limited vocabulary, grammatical complexity, pronunciation issues, listening comprehension barriers, affective factors, and cultural differences. In addition, the study proposes pedagogical strategies and instructional approaches aimed at minimizing these challenges and improving overall language proficiency. The findings of this article may contribute to the improvement of English language teaching methodologies in multilingual and multicultural learning environments.
