Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the concept of sustainable tourism, the process of its formation, and its modern interpretations. In the contemporary understanding, sustainable tourism is not limited solely to environmental protection; rather, it also encompasses the introduction of new innovations, digital technologies, and social responsibility, as well as the active participation of local communities in tourism processes. This implies not only the creation of new employment opportunities for the local population but also ensuring that their voices are heard in decision-making processes and that their cultural and social values are respected. Therefore, modern sustainable tourism aims to strengthen social justice by supporting local entrepreneurship and promoting the development of small businesses and family enterprises. Under current conditions, such areas as ecotourism, green tourism, and responsible tourism attract significant attention. Consequently, the role of digital technologies in the development of sustainable tourism, their contribution, and the participation of local communities in tourism processes are highlighted as important factors.
