Abstract
We all know motivated students learn better. Motivation is the engine behind how much learners engage, how hard they persist, what strategies they try, and how much they ultimately achieve in a second language. Yet, in many English classrooms, motivation is often seen as a lucky bonus—something that just happens—rather than a deliberate tool we can actually use in our teaching.
