Abstract
This paper examines the efficacy of Task-Based Learning (TBL) in enhancing second language (L2) reading and writing competencies. Rooted in communicative language teaching principles, TBL emphasizes learning through the completion of meaningful, real-world tasks. The study synthesizes existing research and classroom-based evidence to argue that TBL effectively bridges the gap between discrete skill instruction and holistic language use. By engaging learners in purposeful cycles of task preparation, execution, and reflection, TBL fosters deeper text processing, authentic audience awareness, and strategic competence in both receptive and productive skills.
