Abstract

This article assesses how well the contextual teaching method works to teach economic terms to English for Specific Purposes students who study economics. The study investigates the theoretical underpinnings of contextual learning while it assesses current methods used for teaching terminology and it shows how authentic economic texts together with real business situations improve English for Specific Purposes teaching. The results show that students learn better through contextual learning methods which use real academic language than through vocabulary memorization methods that require students to learn words.
