Abstract

This article investigates the pragmatic aspects of predicative structures in English and Uzbek. By examining how context influences the modification of predicative constructions, both universal and language-specific features are identified. The findings indicate that in English, pragmatic meanings are often expressed through auxiliary verbs and modal constructions, whereas in Uzbek, aspect, mood, and word order play a crucial role. This study contributes to the theoretical foundations of cross-linguistic pragmatics and may be beneficial for translation studies, language teaching, and computational linguistics.
