Abstract

Digital transformation has become a critical strategic priority for organizations seeking to maintain competitiveness and adaptability in the contemporary digital era. At the core of this transformation is IT infrastructure, which provides the technological foundation for adopting and integrating advanced digital technologies, including cloud computing, big data analytics, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things. This study examines the role of IT infrastructure in enabling and sustaining digital transformation within organizations through a qualitative–analytical approach based on a systematic review of recent scholarly literature. The findings reveal that scalable, integrated, and secure infrastructure, supported by skilled human resources, significantly enhances digital transformation outcomes by improving operational efficiency, enabling innovation, and facilitating strategic alignment. Conversely, fragmented or outdated infrastructure constrains transformation efforts and increases operational risks. Infrastructure maturity and alignment with organizational strategy emerged as essential predictors of transformation success. The study contributes to the literature by highlighting the multidimensional and strategic importance of IT infrastructure and provides practical guidance for organizational leaders seeking to implement effective digital transformation initiatives.
