Abstract

This paper presents the interaction of a laminar boundary layer with an adjacent porous substrate, focusing on the mechanisms of friction modulation at the interface. We analyze the influence of key structural parameters, including porosity and layer thickness, on the velocity profile and the drag coefficient due to the porous layer. The process is modeled using the Navier-Stokes equation, taking the porous layer into account, i.e., a single-domain approach is used. The results show that optimized porous coatings can significantly reduce wall shear stress, offering a promising approach for passive flow control in aerodynamic applications.
