Abstract

This review explores the critical role of heterogeneous catalysts in driving sustainable and environmentally friendly chemical processes, focusing on green synthesis and sustainable processing. It surveys recent advancements in heterogeneous catalysis, with an emphasis on support materials that contribute to cleaner and more efficient chemical transformations. The article delves into the diverse roles of support materials, such as zeolite/silica, graphene/graphene oxide, carbon nitride, boron nitride, metal sulfide, MOF/COF, and layered double hydroxides. Through detailed case studies and examples, it illustrates the utility of these catalysts in various applications like organic synthesis, petrochemical refining, biomass conversion, and pollution abatement. By offering a comprehensive overview, this review sheds light on how support materials are key to advancing sustainable practices in the chemical industry.
