Band Spectra of Magnesium Oxide and Hydroxide between 4000 and 3600  

Band systems in the extreme violet have been excited in `vacuum' arcs in oxygen, ordinary water vapour and heavy-water vapour, and also in a flame. Wavelengths of MgOH and MgOD bands are listed. An oxide system in the same region has been studied under large dispersion but is too complicated to analyse; it is attributed to a polyatomic emitter, possibly Mg2O2.
